Thanks to our generous supporters, we are delighted to share that we have now raised more than £300,000 in our public fundraising campaign for the Celebrating the Cascade project. Over 1,000 stones have been sponsored, and more than 2,200 individual donors have supported the project.

The 1,000th stone was sponsored by a donor who wanted to sponsor a stone,

“For my four year old granddaughter, so that when she plays in the water on the Cascade at Chatsworth House, she can say she sponsored one of its stones.”

For so many of our donors, the Cascade holds special memories of time spent with loved ones and they want to ensure that future generations can enjoy the Cascade as much as they have.

The first eight steps in the Cascade have been sponsored, along with many more besides, with donors choosing step and stone numbers that are meaningful to them further up the Cascade. For instance, step 19, stone 31 to commemorate the year of birth of a loved one, or step 19, stone 90 to mark a wedding anniversary, or step 20, stone 25 to celebrate the birth of a grandchild. With a limited number of stones available, now is the time to sponsor a stone for yourself or a loved one. Contact the team at cascade@chatsworth.org to find out if the particular stone you would like is still available.

The thank you board in the Cascade Hub will be updated at the end of September, so if you would like to have your name added in time for the update, please sponsor a stone before then to have the chance to see your name on the board in time for visits during the autumn and Christmas period.

Autumn promises to be an exciting time for the restoration works, with site preparations underway now ahead of the first stones being lifted in the next couple of months. We will share further updates as we prepare to break ground soon.
